St George Preca Group
The San Jorge Preca Group in Sagua la Grande meets every week in the SDC Centre. The meeting is normally one-hour long. During the years, various courses have been imparted by the SDC members including courses about Jesus Christ, the Catholic Creed, the Bible and the Acts of the Apostoles. In times of Advent, normally our Founder’s books The School of Betlehem is used during meetings, and in times of Lent, the programmes of the Holy Week are also used.
The meeting always starts with prayers by our Founder and ends with the prayer to the Holy Trinity, also written by him. The members really feel part of the Society and they are assiduous readers of the books of St George Preca and other books published by the SDC in Cuba. Besides the weekly meeting, sometimes special activities, like retreats, outings and get-togethers, are also organized from time to time. Despite losing quiet a number of members who went abroad seeking a way out from the Cuban misery, and despite other problems such as the daily power-cuts and the often-inclement weather, the group is still going strong.
